LONDON, July 15 (UPI) -- Tamil-British performer M.I.A announced that her upcoming fifth studio album will likely be her last studio release.

M.I.A appeared on Annie Mac's BBC 1 radio show where she premiered the first single from AIM, a collaboration with Skrillex and Blaqstarr titled "Go Off," before announcing that the project will be her last.

"It's my last record so I wanted it to be happy. There's no complains on it. It's another side to me completely. I don't know if people know [about] that," she said.

M.I.A didn't rule out the possibility of continuing to make music, but said she would prefer to "do some other stuff and take some time out."

"I'm sure I'll put music out and make music, but as an album, this just came together after Borders and it just seemed like it wrote itself very quickly," she said of AIM. "I had to just go with it."

AIM is set to release on Sept. 9.
