Daveed Diggs to leave 'Hamilton' on July 15

NEW YORK, July 13 (UPI) -- Daveed Diggs will perform for the last time in Hamilton July 15 with the roles of Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson being portrayed on Broadway by long-time understudies Andrew Chappelle, Austin Smith and Seth Stewart, Broadway Buzz reported.

Also, Tony winner Karen Olivo, Miguel Cervantes and Alexander Gemignani will headline the Chicago company for Lin-Manuel Miranda's Tony-winning show. They take the roles of Angelica Schuyler, Alexander Hamilton and King George III, with performances beginning Sept. 27 at the PrivateBank Theatre.

Hamilton Music tweeted about the cast changes, welcoming newcomers.

Miranda, who left the cast of Hamilton, himself, on Saturday, tweeted, "[World] sorry for hogging @DaveedDiggs so long. He's headed to every movie/show you [love]. SO proud we were his Bway debut."

Olivo won her Tony for portraying Anita in the 2009 Broadway revival of West Side Story. Cervantes has to his credit If/Then, American Idiot and 25th Putnam County Spelling Bee.

Gemignani played the starring role of Jean Valjean in the 2006 revival of Les Miz. He also played in Broadway performances of Stephen Sondheim's Assassins, Sweeny Todd and Sunday in the Park with George.
