NEW YORK, July 11 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lopez and Hamilton creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda performed their newly released song "Love Makes the World Go Round" on Today Monday.

The song, released on iTunes Friday, is a tribute to those affected by the mass shooting in Orlando last month.

Lopez and Miranda performed on the Today outdoor stage to an audience that included survivors of the Pulse nightclub massacre that left 50 people dead and another 53 injured. The audience also included family members of the shooting victims.

Miranda played his final performance in the blockbuster, history-themed, rap musical Hamilton Saturday night. Leslie Odom Jr and Phillipa Soo also took their final curtain in the Tony Award-winning show.

The trio played respectively Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and Eliza Schuyler.

Proceeds from the song are going to the Hispanic Federation's Proyecto Somos Orlando fund which focuses on crisis management and mental health.

The murders at Pulse took place during the nightclub's Latin night. Both Miranda and Lopez are Puerto Rican and said they decided to do the song because they wanted to give back to the Latin community.
