LOS ANGELES, July 1 (UPI) -- Fans of the Cruel Intentions series remake still have hope. The options for the entire cast have been extended, which means that the studio is still interested.
Cruel Intentions, a television remake of the '90s movie of the same name, was picked up as a pilot by NBC, but wasn't ordered as a series.
NBC is still weighing its options and has asked for more time making casting decisions.
If NBC passes, other outlets – including Hulu – are reportedly interested in picking up the drama starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, who is reprising her role as Kathryn Merteuil.
"We're still discussing it," NBC chairman Bob Greenblatt said in May. "It falls under the heading of embarrassment of riches. It's a bit of an outlier for us. There's no other show like it."
Sources say networks are eyeing a possible Summer 2017 release.
