"Very happy to announce that I will be a series regular on the upcoming 3rd season of @empirefox. Thankful for the opportunity and excited to "bring it" with the rest of the stellar cast already in place. #blessed #WorkHard #stayhumble," he posted.

The rapper will resume his role as Leslie "Shyne" Johnson, the rival of Empire's main character Lucious Lyon, played by Terence Howard, on the Fox Network show. Shyne, Lucious' music-making, drug-dealing antagonist, appeared in Season 2's final episode, TVLIne reported.

Season 3 of Empire kicks off Sept. 21 at 9 p.m.

No stranger to the camera, the former Pimp My Ride host has appeared in more than 20 feature films, including 8 Mile, xXx, X Files, I want to Believe, State of the Union and CSI: Miami.

Other rappers-turned-actors that have appeared on the musical drama include Snoop Dog, Rita Ora, Juicy J., Ludacris, Da Brat and Charles Hamilton.
