MEDFORD, N.J., June 18 (UPI) -- More than 1,500 mourners attended a public memorial in New Jersey Friday evening for Christina Grimmie, a former Voice contestant gunned down by a fan in Florida a week earlier.

The 90-minute service took place at Fellowship Alliance Chapel in Medford where an enormous photo of the beautiful 22-year-old was positioned near the altar.

"All the rumors are true, when the gunman came, he was very quick. It happened so fast, her arms were open and she saw Jesus next," People magazine quoted her brother Marcus as saying. "Her arms were open for him, her arms were open at all times. ... I love you Christina, you are the best."

"I don't have too much to say," E! News reported his mother Tina said through tears. "To anybody who says that I'm strong, I want you to know that I'm the weakest person here and I declare my dependence on Jesus Christ because I don't have anything else. It's just so much..."

The Orlando Police Department confirmed that 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl was the sole assailant, who subsequently shot and killed himself after Marcus tackled him to the ground.
