NEW YORK, June 10 (UPI) -- Paula Patton is moving on from longtime love Robin Thicke.

The 40-year-old actress revealed she's open to dating while promoting her movie Warcraft in interviews this week. Patton and Thicke finalized their divorce in 2015 after 9 years of marriage.

"I'm not seeing anyone special, but I'm open to see what's out there," the star said on Thursday's episode of Extra. "You know what I really want? I want somebody who likes to have fun. [Someone] that really, like, celebrates life, that's happy."

Patton and Thicke, who met as teenagers, were a couple for over 20 years. The actress admitted it's daunting to start dating for the first time, but also said it's been a "fun and interesting" experience.

"I've learned a lot about myself and a lot about a lot of other people and what I like and don't like," she told Essence Live. "I haven't been doing too much of it, it's kind of strange."

"I met [Robin] when I was 15 years old," the star explained. "I have no idea what I'm doing. But it's exciting and so fun. I'm having a blast. It's really nice, honestly, getting used to being alone. It's freeing."

Patton and Thicke share one child: 6-year-old son Julian Fuego. The actress revealed she's focused on finding happiness for herself and Julian in an interview with People magazine published Wednesday.

"I have a beautiful son," she said. "What I'm striving for is to have more joy, play, have fun with this life. Growing older is a good thing in that way, right? Keep on trucking. You have to find the place where it gets comfortable and easier."

Warcraft co-stars Travis Fimmel, Toby Kebbell and Ben Foster and opens in theaters Friday. The actress is also slated for Audrey's Run with Jurnee Smollett-Bell, who announced she's expecting her first child this week.
