LOS ANGELES, June 9 (UPI) -- Norman Reedus is revving up for the debut of AMC's latest series, Ride with Norman Reedus, a reality travel show shot from the seat of a motorcycle.

Speaking to UPROXX, the Walking Dead actor said spending his winter hiatus from the zombie series to ride alongside other cycling celebrities was "a dream job."

"I said 'yes' right away before he changed his mind," Reedus said of AMC president of original programming Joel Stillerman, who pitched the idea to him. "It's a dream job and something I've never done before, and it's something I was completely interested in exploring."

The actor, who portrays crossbow-wielding zombie fighter Daryl Dixon in Walking Dead, will play himself in the new docu-series. Every episode will follow Reedus on a new road trip with a knowledgeable or famous companion. Destinations to be featured in the show include the West Coast, New Orleans and Death Valley, among others.

"What Anthony Bourdain does with food, we do with motorcycles," Reedus explained to The New York Times. "It has that sort of energy to it. I'm learning as I go along and I'm making mistakes, and it's fun."

Reedus said he has been a motorcycle enthusiast since junior high school, and rode friends' cycles before getting his own. He also hinted that fellow Walking Dead co-star Steven Yeun might make an appearance.

"Steven rides. Jeffrey Dean Morgan rides. We actually all ride together in Georgia whenever we can," he said. "It's such pretty riding down there -- you can ride for hours and it's just cows going by."

The six-episode docu-series Ride with Norman Reedus will debut Sunday, June 12 at 10 p.m. on AMC.
