HOLLYWOOD, June 8 (UPI) -- Injustice 2, the follow-up to the the fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us is slated for a 2017 release and has a new trailer.
The game, so far, has only been announced as an Xbox One and PS4 title, Forbes reported. There is no word on mobile or PC versions yet. Since versions of the original came to both those platforms, this one is expected for both, as well.
The nearly colorless animated trailer for the new game is a scene that takes place in a dark hallway lit by long fluorescent bulbs. Batman, Superman, Flash, and other super heroes pulverize one another.
Injustice 2 comes from developer NetherRealm Studios, which is also responsible for the most recent Mortal Kombat games, The Verge reported.
All the emphasis on gear in the trailer is no accident. Character customization is a big part of this game, according to Warner Brothers and developer NetherRealm Studios.
NetherRealm Studios' Creative Director Ed Boon said he is introducing new features in the game that "will change the way fans play fighting games. We're always interested in pushing the genre forward and allowing players to customize and level-up their favorite DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains is a significant leap."
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment President David Haddad said NetherRealm Studios "is offering fans an experience of customizing and battling with DC's iconic characters in an entirely new way."
He said the story in this game continues where the last one left off.
