LONDON, June 7 (UPI) -- Britain's "loneliest dog" has been cast as the newest member of the ensemble for Transformers: The Last Knight.
Last month, The Mirror dubbed a 6-year-old Staffordshire bull terrier passed over for adoption by more than 18,000 shelter visitors as "Britain's loneliest dog." Freya suffers from epilepsy and has spend most of her life in shelters.
Bay revealed the newest member of the cast on Twitter.
"Found this in the news last week in the UK," Bay tweeted. "We gave the Loneliest Dog, a role in Transformers. Freya, has epilepsy and has been in a shelter her whole 6 year life. We are also going to find her a home. ... If not she will come to my house. Welcome to the cast Freya!"
Bay owns two bullmastiffs named Bonecrusher and Grace, who travel with him between Los Angeles and Miami, The Guardian reported.
Bay's last Transformers movie, Age of Extinction, while receiving some negative criticism, made more than $1 billion at box offices around the world.
The franchise, which is based on Hasbro's action figures, has been one of Hollywood's most reliable money makers. Extinction broke box office records in CHila in 2014 making it the highest grossing film that year.
Freya's role in the new movie has not yet been announced.
