Bindi Irwin names Ruby Rose as her celebrity crush

LOS ANGELES, May 20 (UPI) -- Bindi Irwin says her celebrity crush is fellow Australian star Ruby Rose.

The 17-year-old conservationist named the 30-year-old actress while taking the E! News Quiz. Irwin and Rose have been friendly for years and spent time together at the Australia Zoo in 2014.

"Celebrity crush is Ruby Rose," the teenager revealed. "She is just amazing. You look at Ruby Rose and you're like, 'Wow, she's beautiful!' And one of the sweetest people on planet Earth."

"I was about to say I love the Dalai Lama but I don't know if that's really a crush, 'cause he's just amazing," the Dancing with the Stars Season 21 winner added.

Irwin also gushed about boyfriend Chandler Powell in the interview. She and the 19-year-old American wakeboarder first met in 2013, and Irwin recently revealed she and Powell attended his prom last year.

"I'm really lucky. I have the best boyfriend. Chandler is still with me and we've been together for quite a few years now," the star said.

"It was really fun," she added of their trip to prom. "He asked me to come to prom -- it was so cute -- he tied a little note to his dog's collar ... His dog came bounding up to me and I read it and was like, 'Oh my goodness!'"

Irwin is the daughter of late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin and conservationist Terri Irwin. Terri, who spoke to E! with her daughter, said she believes Steve would approve of Powell because he's "a nice person and really kind to Bindi."

Rose is known for playing Stella Carlin on Orange is the New Black and will star in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Irwin shared her love for the actress again Thursday on Twitter, writing, "Thank you for always being an inspiration and true beauty!"
