Courtney Stodden pregnant with first child: 'Life happens'

LOS ANGELES, May 17 (UPI) -- Reality television star Courtney Stodden is expecting her first child with husband Doug Hutchison.

"I feel happy about it but extremely overwhelmed," Stodden said to Entertainment Tonight Monday, confirming her pregnancy. She is four weeks along.

"I'm going through a lot at the moment. This wasn't a planned pregnancy," the 21-year-old continued. "But life happens."

Stodden shared similar thoughts with Us Weekly explaining candidly, "It's a bittersweet time for me right now. I'm dealing with a lot of stress and emotions surrounding life and its ups and downs."

"Doug and I weren't planning on going public with this so soon. I'm only four weeks along in my pregnancy. But some things are out of your control," she said of the announcement.

This will be Stodden and Hutchison's first child together. The couple famously tied the knot in May of 2011 when the television personality was just 16-years-old. Hutchison is 55-years-old.

The couple appeared together in 2012 on VH1's Couples Therapy with Stodden most recently appearing on Lifetime's The Mother/Daughter Experiment: Celebrity Edition alongside her estranged mother and former manager, Krista Keller.
