WASHINGTON, May 11 (UPI) -- Netflix unveiled the first trailer for Voltron: Legendary Defender, a reboot of the 1980s cartoon starring the titular fighting robot.

The official trailer for the upcoming 22-episode Netflix original series depicts the show's five heroes as they come together to fight evil by forming "the greatest weapon ever known:" Voltron.

All 11 episodes of the collaboration between Netflix and Dreamworks Animation, including a one-hour season premier, will be available on the service starting June 10.

Executive producer Joaquim Dos Santos and co-executive producer Lauren Montgomery told Entertainment Weekly they wanted to create a version of Voltron that resembled their memory of the original series rather than trying to emulate it.

"We wanted to make it closer to what we remember the show being versus what it actually ends up being when you go back and watch it," Montgomery said.

The series will feature voices performed by Flight of the Conchords' Rhys Darby, The Walking Dead's Steven Yeun and Jeremy Shada, the voice of Finn on Cartoon Network's animated series Adventure Time.
