Audra McDonald and Will Swenson expecting their first child together

NEW YORK, May 10 (UPI) -- Broadway icon Audra McDonald announced via Twitter Tuesday that she is expecting her second child.

"Who knew that tap dancing during perimenopause could lead 2 pregnancy? @thewillswenson & I are completely surprised but elated 2 b expecting," the 45-year-old actress tweeted.

"In other news...I may have had 3 croissants today," reads a subsequent post.

McDonald is a six-time Tony Award-winner who can now be seen in the stage musical Shuffle Along. She wed her fellow Broadway star Will Swenson in 2012 and has a daughter Zoe from a previous marriage.
