SAN FRANCISCO, April 26 (UPI) -- Fan-favorite protagonist Clementine is set to return in developer Telltale Game' upcoming interactive adventure game sequel, The Walking Dead Season 3.
Speaking with IGN Monday, Walking Dead series creator Robert Kirkman confirmed that despite the last game's multiple endings, that Clementine would be making an appearance in Season 3.
"We'll be checking in on Clementine again, so we'll be seeing her, seeing where she's at and what's going on with her, which is going to be great," Kirkman said without clarifying whether or not players will assume the role of the young survivor once again.
Kirkman also mentioned how Season 3 would begin to tie into the Walking Dead comic book series which he still pens alongside artist Charlie Adlard.
"Season 3 of the Telltale series is really exciting to me just because the way that the timeline works, Season 3 will actually be getting pretty close to where we are in the comics concurrently, like the books that are coming out now are roughly in the same time frame that season three will be in," he explained.
"There's a lot of really cool, really exciting things coming that I don't think people will expect."
Telltales The Walking Dead, which first released in 2012 with Season 1, has players assume the role of Clementine, a young girl fighting to survive during the zombie outbreak. On her journey, Clementine meets various Walking Dead characters from the comic book series and show. The series is noteworthy for how choices players make in the game, such as which characters live and die, affect the story in multiple ways.
The Walking Dead Season 3 is expected to release in 2016 for Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Also in 2016, TellTale Games will release their upcoming Batman title which features gameplay moments as both Bruce Wayne and his crimefighting alter ego.
