MINNEAPOLIS, April 21 (UPI) -- Prince's fellow artists are taking to social media to pay tribute to the beloved pop-music icon who died Thursday at the age of 57.
"The Purple Rain" and "Raspberry Beret" singer died on his Minnesota estate. The cause of his death has not yet been revealed, however he was briefly hospitalized last week after battling flu-like symptoms.
"This is what it sounds like when doves cry.. Prince R.I.P. Condolences to his family & 2 us all," observed comedian Whoopi Goldberg.
"no one, no one, no one like Prince. Incomparable," said actor Michael Keaton.
"Numb. Stunned. This can't be real," confessed Justin Timberlake.
"Dearly beloved... We are here to celebrate this thing called life.". You were my hero. I am destroyed. This is surely what it sounds like when doves cry... RIP my Prince..." filmmaker Adam Shankman posted.
"This is so heartbreaking I had this Prince pic drawn on my wall years ago because his music inspired so many R.I.P," said recording artist Missy Elliott.
"I was so busy an hour ago and now I.... Prince was so kind to me once. He was so kind. He was so talented. He was everything. A Legend," reflected actress Gabourey Sidibe.

"Once, Prince yelled from the stage that I could dance. He was likely yelling to the girl behind me, but it's still my happiest moment. RIP," tweeted actress Olivia Wilde.
