CHICAGO, April 20 (UPI) -- The mastermind of a planned pop-up diner styled after The Max from Saved by the Bell announced the eatery will launch June 1 in Chicago.

Derek Berry, creator of the Saved by the Max pop-up diner, enlisted comedian Ed Alonzo to reprise his role as Max from the iconic 1990s sitcom for a video announcing the eatery will open its doors June 1 in Wicker Park.

"Hi, everyone! It's your old friend Max here, and I'm proud to announce that we're saving The Max one more time in the heart of Wicker Park, Chicago!" Alonzo says in the video.

Plans for the diner had been announced previously, but the location and grand opening date were kept under wraps until the video's release.

"After just one meeting I knew that this space was perfect for us," Berry said in a news release. "We needed a place that would allow fans to feel as if they've been transported back to Bayside and are fully immersed in the universe of the show. The final look of the space is going to be a dream come true and deliver the grand slam nostalgic experience everyone has been waiting for."

Alonzo says in the video that reservations for the grand opening will be available starting Friday on the pop-up's website, savedbythemax.com.

"You know, it's like I told my old friend Slater: If you want something bad enough, you'll find a way to make it happen," he says.

The eatery is expected to offer Saved by the Bell-themed menu items including A.C. Sliders, Preppy BLT, Macaroni & Screech, Belding Fries and a Lisa Turtle Milkshake.
