LOS ANGELES, April 20 (UPI) -- Kate Hudson rang in her 37th birthday with mom Goldie Hawn by her side.
The Rock the Kasbah actress started off her day with a surprise visit from three shirtless male dancers before relaxing with some "birthday meditation" with Hawn and other friends.
"Birthday meditation went just as planned: Intentions set, tears shed, laughter achieved and then some, and enough love in one circle to last many lifetimes #lovemygirlfriends #lovemymama #callingonangels," Hudson wrote on Instagram.
Hudson later shared a group portrait, writing, "Best day So much gratitude for all the birthday wishes!!! They do not go unnoticed and I am so thankful for all the love. Truly." Hawn, meanwhile, marked the occasion by posting a throwback photo of the actress.
"Happy birthday my only girl! Thank you for coming through me to become YOU! A shining light full of joy. I love you #blessingsmydaughter," she captioned a picture of Hudson as a child.
Hudson is the daughter of Hawn and musician Bill Hudson, but was largely raised by Hawn's longtime partner, actor Kurt Russell. Hawn is also mother to 39-year-old son Oliver Hudson and 29-year-old son Wyatt Russell.
"I've always had a really super open relationship with her," Hudson said of her mom to E! News this week. "I talk about everything. I'm like the person who comes home and can't hide anything."
"Even my friends are sometimes like, 'Kate you've got to stop talking so much about your life,'" she added. "And I'm like, 'Why?' ... I've never felt like I've had to hide anything from mom. If anything, she's always been my confidante.
Hudson herself is mom to 12-year-old son Ryder with ex-husband Chris Robinson and 4-year-old son Bingham with ex-fiancé Matt Bellamy. The actress will next star in Mother's Day with Jennifer Aniston and Julia Roberts.
