LOS ANGELES, April 19 (UPI) -- Naya Rivera and son Josey are all smiles on the cover of Fit Pregnancy and Baby magazine.

The 29-year-old actress and her 7-month-old infant are featured in the publication's May issue, which explores Rivera's new role as a mom. The former Glee star and husband Ryan Dorsey welcomed Josey in November.

"You're always going to wonder if you're doing things wrong, but that's what it means to be a mom, to care so much about someone else that you just want to be as perfect as possible," Rivera shared.

"Ryan is a very hands-on, loving and nurturing dad," she added. "If Josey doesn't want to go to sleep, Ryan will bust out his guitar and play him some songs, and Josey will fall asleep immediately. It's the cutest thing to watch."

Rivera gained 60 pounds of baby weight and lost the first 30 pounds through a combination of breastfeeding, healthy eating and low-impact exercise. She later hired a personal trainer to help her lose the remaining weight.

"I completely let myself go when I was pregnant," the star confessed. "Weight wasn't something I wanted to focus on, so I ate anything and everything and had a blast. Afterward, I was like, 'Let's get back to business.'"

"I know I'm lucky. Not all moms can afford [a trainer]," she acknowledged. "But I'm not really self-motivated. And I don't know what to do at the gym. I always feel lost. [Without a trainer] I'd probably just end up not working out, and then go to the steam room."

Rivera and Dorsey are longtime friends who married in 2014. The actress, who is best known for playing Santana Lopez on Glee, said she and Dorsey "can't wait" to be parents when she announced her pregnancy in February 2015.
