Benioff and Weiss confirmed that the POTUS had requested and received the early episodes before anyone else while attending the show's Season 6 premiere in Los Angeles.
"I think, for both of us, finding out the President wanted advanced copies of the episodes was an 'ah-ha' moment," Weiss said during the network's Facebook live stream of the event according to Entertainment Weekly when asked if they had any "ah-ha...we've totally made it" moments when producing the series.
"That was a very strange moment," he continued before stating they could never deny such a request from the commander-in-chief. "Yes," said Weiss when asked if the episode exchange did really happen. "He's the leader of the free world."
"When the commander-in-chief says, 'I want to see advanced episodes,' what are you gonna do?" Benioff added.
Obama, a big fan of the fantasy drama, was famously told by series director David Nutter in July of 2015 that Jon Snow was "deader than dead," when Obama inquired about the character's fate seen during the final moments of Season 5.
