LOS ANGELES, April 12 (UPI) -- Kristen Stewart is switching up her look with new, platinum blonde hair. The 26-year-old actress was spotted with bleached blonde tresses while taking off from LAX with girlfriend SoKo on Sunday. Stewart's dark roots were visible underneath her beanie.

The Twilight star is a natural blonde but best known for having brunette hair. The actress discussed her approach to beauty with Marie Claire in 2014 after chopping her tresses into a pixie cut.
"My hair was such a crutch," Stewart said of her previously long locks. "I looked quote, unquote 'sexy' no matter what. I could hide behind it. As soon as I didn't have all that hair, I had to let my face hang out."
"I felt more confident than I had in a really long time," she shared. "And it felt really good. Maybe to most people long hair is prettier. But then what? Is your main goal in life to be desired? That's boring as [expletive]."
Stewart previously told Into the Gloss "you couldn't tell the difference between [her] and [her] brothers" when she was a teenager. She admitted to still being "a total tomboy" but also said she loves to experiment with her hair.
"If I wasn't an actor, I would definitely do things to my hair," she revealed. "I would cut it more, I would dye it more. At some point I want to do a total boy cut, completely -- not a pretty, girly version -- like a straight up James Dean haircut."
Stewart is best known for playing Bella Swan in the Twilight movies and will next star in Equals with Nicholas Hoult. She is also slated for Certain Women with Michelle Williams and Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk with Vin Diesel.
