LOS ANGELES, April 11 (UPI) -- Gigi Hadid showed off a drastic new hairstyle at the 2016 MTV Movie Awards on Sunday.

The 20-year-old model debuted long bangs on the red carpet that immediately drew comparisons to French actress Brigitte Bardot.

Hadid's stylist, Bryce Scarlett, told Us Weekly he was going for "a stick straight finish" and "bedhead effect" with the star's 'do. Makeup artist Sarah Tanno, meanwhile, aimed for a "punkier" look with Hadid's black-rimmed eye makeup.

Hadid stunned in a pinstriped Versace suit with a black lacy bra and accessorized with Lili Claspe jewelry. She previously wore a faux bob to the 2015 American Music Awards, and it is unknown if her bangs were actually clip-ins.

Hadid and fellow model Kendall Jenner were on hand to introduce Ariana Grande's performance at the ceremony. The 22-year-old singer performed her new single, "Dangerous Woman," which appears on her forthcoming album of the same name.

Hadid is known for her modeling work with Chanel and Balmain and recently landed a romantic spread with boyfriend Zayn Malik in the May issue of Vogue. The model gushed about the shoot to E! News on the red carpet.

"I wish he could be on set with me every day," she said. "It doesn't feel like work when he's there. It was really, really fun. We had the best time. It was definitely an adventure to go where we shot it. He's a very good model. He's so naturally good looking."
