NEW YORK, April 1 (UPI) -- Cara Delevingne is backtracking on an earlier statement saying she was stepping away from the fashion industry.

After it was revealed she would be the new spokesmodel for Saint Laurent's La Collection de Paris, Delevingne took to Twitter to clarify where she stood, mentioning her bout with depression and the fact she never quit modeling.

"Can we just set the record straight..." the 23-year-old model and actress began. "I never said I was quitting modeling. I do not blame the fashion industry for anything. I suffer from depression and was a model during a particularly rough patch of self hatred."

Delevingne continued, saying she once used her work to "try and escape and just ended up completely exhausting myself." She added in an additional tweet she will focus on working in film in order to "learn how to not pick apart my every flaw. I'm really good at that."

Last August, and fresh out of working on Paper Towns, Delevingne told The London Times she was "not doing fashion work anymore," due to a skin condition and how the industry made her feel "old."

The Suicide Squad actress shared several shots from her Saint Laurent campaign photo shoot which include her donning men's and women's wear.
