LOS ANGELES, March 16 (UPI) -- Ne-Yo and wife Crystal Renay have welcomed their first child. The 36-year-old singer's rep confirmed Ne-Yo and Renay are proud parents to a healthy son after Renay underwent an emergency C-section Tuesday.

"Prince Shaffer Chimere Smith Jr has arrived! 6lbs 8oz, 19 inches," Renay captioned a photo of herself holding her son's hand on Instagram.
"It was the scariest delivery ever," she admitted. "With the help of my amazing doctor @drsherryr and my super calming husband @neyo I was able to get through it all and come out with the best reward in the world... SJ!"
Ne-Yo and Renay announced they were expecting in August and married in Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif., last month. Renay told fans she was feeling both "frightened" and "blessed" in a post two days before SJ's birth.
"I began this journey with you and here we are at the finish line stronger than ever together!" she wrote to Ne-Yo. "I know that God and you have my back. I can look to you for strength when I feel mine failing and know that in you I'll find me."
Ne-Yo and Renay have been together since early 2014. The singer, born Shaffer Chimere Smith, is already father to 5-year-old daughter Madilyn and 4-year-old son Mason with his ex-fiancée, Monyetta Shaw.
Ne-Yo released his sixth studio album, Non-Fiction, in January. The record peaked at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and includes the singles "Money Can't Buy" and "She Knows."
