CHARLESTON, S.C., March 6 (UPI) -- Recording artist Bobby Brown canceled his scheduled appearance at the Charleston Jam Fest concert in South Carolina this weekend.

The cancellation came the day after the results of his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown's autopsy were released to the public.

"Bobby Brown will not be performing due to illness," read posters on the doors of the North Charleston Coliseum. "Refund requests must be prior to entry only!"

The R&B star was to perform alongside Keith Sweat, Jagged Edge and 112.

Although he didn't specify what kind of surgery he received, he wrote on Twitter, "My Gastroenterologist has made the decision to keep me resting for another week.

"Charleston, I will see you soon but I had to sit out this time," he posted. "I will be back soon and I can't wait to hit the stage.

"I recently had surgery and the recovery time has taken longer than expected," he explained in another post.

Documents released by the medical examiner's office late last week showed Bobbi Kristina died in 2015 at the age of 22 of a combination of drowning and drug intoxication. She was found unresponsive in her bathtub and placed on life support for months before dying in hospice care in June.

The circumstances of her death remain under investigation.
