NEW YORK, March 3 (UPI) -- Sarah Paulson says fan response to her relationship with girlfriend Holland Taylor has been "surreal." The 41-year-old American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson star confirmed she's seeing the 73-year-old actress in an interview with the New York Times amid renewed interest in her dating life.

"My choices in romantic partners have not been conventional, and therefore the idea that it is 'other' makes it compelling," Paulson said. "What I can say absolutely is that I am in love, and that person happens to be Holland Taylor."
Paulson was previously in a seven-year relationship with 24 actress Cherry Jones, who is 18 years her senior. Before Jones, she dated men, including her ex-fiancé, actor and playwright Tracy Letts, who is nine years older.
"There's a poignancy to being with someone older," the star said. "I think there's a greater appreciation of time and what you have together and what's important, and it can make the little things seem very small."
"It puts a kind of sharp light mixed with a sort of diffused light on something," she explained. "I can't say it any other way than there's a poignancy to it, and a heightened sense of time and the value of time."
Paulson and Taylor were first linked in December but have been seeing each other for more than a year. The older actress gushed about the relationship on Death, Sex & Money podcast in November but did not mention Paulson by name.
"It's the most wonderful, extraordinary thing that could have ever possibly happened in my life," Taylor said, adding she believes marriage "would be a wonderful thing to do."
Paulson and Taylor have since attended the Critics' Choice Awards as a couple. Paulson portrays Marcia Clark on American Crime Story: The People vs. O.J. Simpson, while Taylor is known for playing Evelyn Harper on Two and a Half Men.
