LOS ANGELES, March 3 (UPI) -- Recording artist Demi Lovato is to be honored with the Vanguard Award at the 27th annual GLAAD Media Awards in Los Angeles.
The event is to take place at the Beverly Hilton on April 2. The gala will recognize media members for their "fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the LGBT community and the issues that affect their lives," a press release said.
For the first time in nearly a decade, the GLAAD Media Awards ceremony will be televised exclusively on Logo in a one-hour special April 4.
"Demi Lovato has consistently used her platform as a successful artist to send messages of acceptance and support to LGBT people everywhere," GLAAD President and Chief Executive Officer Sarah Kate Ellis said in a statement Thursday. "She is an extraordinary ally who is committed to helping young people embrace who they are and live the lives they love."
