LOS ANGELES, March 2 (UPI) -- Jaime King has come forward as a survivor of sexual abuse.
The 36-year-old actress revealed in an Instagram post following Lady Gaga's performance at the 2016 Academy Awards on Sunday that she was first abused at age 12.
"SURVIVOR - Thank you @kyle_newman for loving me whole. My children. @lenadunham for her relentless bravery that always leads my spirit to stand up. Dr. Randy Harris for years of empathy. Michael Hayes @awaketolove - there are no words," King wrote.
"@ladygaga #Diane Warren for breaking me whole last night and tonight. [Taylor Swift] I love you for being there no matter what! Thank you to the only people I have told ... Thank you to @unwomen & all organizations that have tirelessly worked to somehow comfort and make right."
"Thank you to myself to not choosing to make this a cover story though that was what was suggested to me but to express from my heart to you all personally which felt the most honest way for me to speak ... The time is now. I was about 14 here [in this photo], it started at 12."
Lady Gaga, who revealed she was raped at age 19 in a 2014 interview, performed "Til It Happens to You" at the Oscars ceremony. The 29-year-old singer wrote the song for the documentary The Hunting Ground, which explores campus rape in the U.S.
"Thank you @ladygaga - I finally felt a true healing from years of abuse as a minor in the industry. Time to be brave," King tweeted after the performance. "Thank you my sister. There are no words for what your soul [has] done for me. I love you."
