LOS ANGELES, Feb. 17 (UPI) -- Henry Cavill isn't bothered by his age difference with girlfriend Tara King.

The 32-year-old actor opened up about his relationship with the 19-year-old college student to Elle while promoting his new movie, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

"[We talk about] everything," Cavill told the magazine. "People say, 'Age is just a number.' A lot times it's not just a number. It's actually a real and true sign of someone's maturity. But in this case, she's fantastic."

"When I first met my girlfriend, I was super intimidated," the star confessed. "I wanted to impress her. I was thinking, 'Don't mess this up, man. You've gotta play your cards exactly right.' Everyone doubts themselves. It's just a matter of admitting it or not."

Cavill and King met over the summer and went public with their relationship at a rugby match in October. The actor, who was previously engaged to equestrienne Ellen Whitaker, 29, told Elle he dated a 32-year-old woman when he was 19.

"I was a pretty awkward kid and really didn't have girls fancying me," the actor previously told Cosmopolitan. "The world is filled with people uncomfortable in their skin. So someone who hasn't got a front on is very attractive. I don't date much. I'm more of a relationship guy."

Cavill plays Superman in the DC Comics cinematic universe and will next portray the superhero in Batman v Superman, out Mar. 25. The actor is also known for playing Charles Brandon on the Showtime series The Tudors, which ran from 2007 to 2010.
