LOS ANGELES, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Fox returns to late night sketch comedy with its announcement of Party Over Here, a new series which will star former Saturday Night Live stars Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone.

The trio, known collectively as Lonely Island, will appear in the half-hour series every Saturday night beginning March 12 at 11 p.m.

According to a Fox press release, Girl Code's Nicole Byer, Riot's Jessica McKenna and Resident Advisors' Alison Rich will also be joining the project.

Lonely Planet members will executive produce alongside The League's Paul Scheer.

"When we first conceived this idea, we thought of it as a spinoff of Empire," The Lonely Island said in a statement. "We failed miserably...now it's much more of a sketch comedy show."

"In an age where most millennials don't even know what a TV is, we are really excited to be getting into the TV business," said Scheer. {i: Party Over Here} comes seven years after Fox cancelled Saturday Night Live contender MADtv. It will be filmed in downtown Los Angeles in the presence of a live audience.
