NEW YORK, Feb. 3 (UPI) -- Tony award-winning actress Mary-Louise Parker will star in Heisenberg on Broadway this fall.

The 41-year-old actress will reprise Georgie Burns in a Broadway transfer of the well received off-Broadway play by Simon Stephens.

Parker first played the character in a Manhattan Theatre Club production in 2015.

Mark Brokaw will return to direct the new production, with Denis Arndt reprising the role of Alex Priest. The two-character play follows the ongoing and "uncertain" relationship between Georgie and the much older Alex after an unexpected and "electric" encounter.

Stephens is best known for the Broadway adaptation of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. Heisenberg will begin previews Sept. 20 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street before opening Oct. 13.

Parker won Best Actress for Proof at the 2001 Tony Awards, and went on to star in a Broadway production of Reckless in 2004. She last appeared on Broadway in The Snow Geese in 2013.

"She always appears to come at things from an odd angle," director Joe Mantello previously told More magazine of Parker as a performer. "She'll be hilariously funny, and then she'll break your heart. You never know what she's going to do."

Parker is best known for playing Nancy Botwin on Weeds, and also portrayed Amy Gardner on The West Wing and Naomi Hyland on The Blacklist. She will next star in the comedy Chronically Metropolitan with Josh Peck and Ashley Benson.
