Celebs react to Julianne Hough, Vanessa Hudgens in 'Grease: Live'

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- FOX's network premiere of Grease:Live the musical may have been exciting to watch, but just as engaging were the celebrity reactions pouring in during the live event.

Sunday evening's airing of the music special featured big names including, Julianne Hough (Sandy), Aaron Tveit (Danny), Vanessa Hudgens (Rizzo), and Keke Palmer (Marty).

The hashtag "GreaseLive" was trending before the show even aired and even the first few numbers gave fans and celebrities alike something to tweet about.

According to US Weekly, Anna Kendrick started an uproar when she tweeted her appreciation for Tveit's tank and shorts combo when he strutted onto the set for the gymnasium scene.

"Finger crossed Danny's shorts get smaller with every cut away," she tweeted.

Many fans and celebs were right behind her.

"My type is Aaron Tveit in track shorts," entertainment news reporter Will Keightley tweeted.

A multitude of stars, costars, and fans alike commended Hudgens for her amazing performance, especially after she announced that her father died from stage 4 cancer less than 24 hours before her performance.

Hudgens boyfriend, actor Austin Butler tweeted in support of his "brilliant" girlfriend.

"WOW @VanessaHudgens singing 'Worst Things' had me in tears. Just brilliant," he wrote.

"Imagine if you had a day like @VanessaHudgens & performed like that. Wow.What a strong woman. My new hero," costar Mario Lopez tweeted.

Hough also garnered tweets from fans and loved ones who applauded her for her portrayal of Sandy. Her brother and former Dancing With the Stars partner, Derek Hough proved that he was his sister's number one fan with several videos posted on his Instagram account.
