LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29 (UPI) -- Actor Ryan Reynolds, as his superhero character Deadpool, stars in a new public service announcement that is both hilarious and genuinely helpful in the fight against testicular cancer.

The wise-cracking R-rated superhero seems a perfect fit to reach the 20-something to 30-something male audience it's designed for.

Reynolds tweeted the video spot Thursday, just over a week before the premiere of the Deadpool movie, with the tagline "Something to touch yourself to. #deadpool." as a double entendre for the PSA's message of promoting regular self-examination.

The spot is surprisingly clear and helpful to men about early detection of testicular cancer in a way that is equally funny and engaging about a serious subject. It's also smart marketing.

Deadpool open nationwide Feb. 12th.
