One Direction's Louis Tomlinson reveals newborn son's name on social media

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 28 (UPI) -- One Direction band member Louis Tomlinson shared a photo of his newborn son, Freddie, on Instagram Wednesday night.

The black and white photo features the tiny baby dressed in a striped onesie while new-dad Tomlinson looks down.

"Meet my little lad, Freddie," the 24-year-old singer, who parents the baby alongside stylist Briana Jungwirth, wrote.

On Jan. 23, Tomlinson acknowledged the birth of his new baby on Twitter, writing "I'm pleased to say my baby son was born yesterday :) He is healthy and pretty amazing :) I'm very happy!!"

Since, Tomlinson has tweeted similar happy messages, including a thank you note to his fans. "Thank you so much for the all nice messages :)" he wrote.

News broke of the singer's impending fatherhood in July, when reports said he was "excited" to become a dad.

"It was a surprise at first, but he and Briana are very, very close friends and this has brought them even closer," a source told People at the time.

Tomlinson and new-mom Jungwirth are said to have met early last year after the One Direction star broke up with longtime girlfriend Eleanor Calder. The two are no longer romantically involved, according to reports, but remain close friends.
