Zendaya named latest CoverGirl spokesmodel

The actress and singer said she is "inspired" to work with the cosmetics brand for their active support of diversity.

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 22 (UPI) -- Disney actress and singer Zendaya is CoverGirl's latest spokesmodel, the celebrity announced on social media Thursday.

The 19-year-old "Close Up" singer first posted a teaser on Instagram Wednesday, writing "Something new...something beautiful #ComingSoon..." alongside a mysterious photo of herself with dyed locks and bright, dramatic makeup.

On Thursday, the actress revealed the news, uploading a video of herself reciting CoverGirl's iconic tagline, "Easy, breezy, beautiful. CoverGirl," onto Instagram.

"Meet your newest easy...breezy beautiful...COVERGIRL Follow @covergirl for more," Zendaya wrote alongside the clip.

In an interview published in TeenVogue Thursday, Zendaya commended the makeup brand for its representation of diverse beauty.

"CoverGirl celebrates powerful, beautiful, and strong women of different races and ethnicities. It's inspiring," she said. "I'm thrilled to be part of the diversity and expansion of beauty."
