LOS ANGELES, Jan. 16 (UPI) -- The fact that none of the acting nominees for this year's Oscars are people of color has not escaped Chris Rock's notice.

The comedian, who is to host the Feb. 28 ceremony honoring excellence in cinema for 2015, tweeted alongside a video promo Friday: "The #Oscars. The White BET Awards."

The BET Awards recognize the best in entertainment by African American artists.

Nominations for the Oscars were announced Thursday. Among the omissions were the black stars of critically acclaimed films such as Straight Outta Compton, Creed, Concussion, Beasts of No Nation and Tangerine.

Also surprisingly snubbed this year were celebrated white filmmakers Steven Spielberg, Quentin Tarantino, Todd Haynes and Ridley Scott, as well as actors Michael Keaton, Tom Hanks and Johnny Depp.

The Revenant was nominated for a leading 12 Oscars, while Mad Max: Fury Road is up for 10 and The Martian is in the running for seven.
