HOLLYWOOD, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- The number of actors being considered for the role of the young Han Solo in an upcoming Star Wars spinoff is narrowing, with Miles Teller, Dave Franco and Scott Eastwood among the few remaining.

Disney and Lucasfilm are also considering The Fault in Our Stars actor Ansel Elgort, Tranformers: Age of Extinction actor Jack Reynor, Fury actor Logan Lerman, Brooklyn actor Emory Cohen and Everybody Wants Some actor Blake Jenner, Variety reports.

Longtime Star Wars producer Kathleen Kennedy is said to be testing the group of actors alongside directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller. Shooting isn't expected to begin until next year, with a May 25, 2018 release date in the works.

The early casting is reportedly taking place not directly for the untitled Han Solo spinoff, but another Star Wars film, Rogue One, which may include a cameo by the young Solo. No confirmation has been made about the cameo, however.

While young Hollywood actors line up for a chance to play Han Solo, the character's original actor, Harrison Ford, is reportedly preparing for a return to his popular Indiana Jones franchise.

In late December, Disney CEO Robert Iger confirmed the fifth Indiana Jones flick, teasing the project is "all about storytelling. That's what creates the most value."
