GLENDALE, Calif., Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Former Disney Channel child actor Michael Galeota was confirmed dead in his home Sunday due to suspected natural causes. He was 31 years old.
Known for his roles in the film Clubhouse Detectives and television series The Jersey, Galeota reportedly faced multiple health problems including hypertension, diverticulitis and high cholesterol.
TMZ reported the actor checked in to the hospital last week for abdominal pains and left Wednesday against medical advice. A complete autopsy was said to be scheduled for Tuesday.
Galeota's family launched a GoFundMe page Monday to help cover burial cost, raising more than $16,000 in less than 24 hours. One notable donation is $5,000 from a Shia L., suspected to be former Disney actor Shia LaBeouf.
"He was a precious gift -- loving, giving, compassionate, joyful and intelligent," the crowdfunding page reads. "A great inspiration for anyone that heard his genuine, humble, witty and joyful voice, or experienced his smile, laughter and love for just a moment...Please help us to provide burial that is worthy of a GIVER."
