LONDON, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Kensington Palace shared two photos of Prince George arriving at his first day of nursery school Wednesday.

The colorful shots feature a curious Prince George standing in front of the Norfolk nursery's outdoor wall mural. The two-year-old royal is seen wearing a blue jacket and light blue backpack.

The palace tweeted the pair of photos separately, revealing Middleton, who gave birth to her second child -- Princess Charlotte -- in May, took the photos personally per their watermarks.

The new shots come about two weeks after the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge released their family's holiday card taken in the gardens of Kensington Palace. Soon after the photo was released, Prince William opened up about fatherhood, reportedly saying fatherhood has made him, "a lot more emotional than I used to be, weirdly."

"I never used to get too wound up or worried about things," the prince said. "But now the smallest little things, you well up a little more, you get affected by the sort of things that happen around the world or whatever a lot more, I think, as a father. Just because you realize how precious life is and it puts it all in perspective. The idea of not being around to see your children grow up and stuff like that."
