LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Peta Murgatroyd and fiancé Maksim Chmerkovskiy are looking forward to 2016. The 29-year-old Australian Dancing with the Stars pro and 35-year-old American professional dancer celebrated their recent engagement and the coming new year with a tropical getaway to St. Maarten.

"I'm not sure how 2016 can top this incredible year... but it's an amazing feeling knowing the best is yet to come baby @maksimc #StMaarten #grateful #lifeisgood," Murgatroyd captioned a photo of herself kissing her husband-to-be in the ocean.
Chmerkovskiy proposed to Murgatroyd onstage after their performance in Sway on Dec. 5. The Australian dancer later called Chmerkovskiy "the love of [her] life," while Chmerkovskiy shared his love for Murgatroyd last week on Good Morning America.
"I personally knew [she was The One] when we got back together," he revealed. "I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I think every day since then we just got better, stronger and happier. She [does make] me a better man."
Murgatroyd and Chmerkovskiy met during a Broadway production of Burn the Floor in 2009, and first appeared as pros together on Dancing with the Stars in 2011. They previously dated in 2012, and got back together in fall 2014.
Murgatroyd has appeared on Dancing since Season 13, but was forced to sit out Season 21 due to an injury. Chmerkovskiy competed in Seasons 2 through 5 and 7-15, and won season 18 with Meryl Davis in May 2014.
