Caitlyn Jenner settles with driver in fatal crash

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 31 (UPI) -- Caitlyn Jenner has reached a settlement with one driver in her fatal February car crash.

The 66-year-old reality star settled with Jessica Steindorff, who was suing for personal injury and property damage. Steindorff is the Prius driver Jenner rear-ended after hitting and sending Kim Howe's Lexus into oncoming traffic.

Sources told TMZ Jenner's insurance paid the settlement to Steindorff, meaning the reality star didn't have to reach into her own pocket. Jenner has yet to resolve her lawsuits with Howe's stepchildren and the Hummer driver who collided with Howe.

"It's my understanding that [Ms.] Jenner struck the white Lexus, knocking it into oncoming traffic, and then rear-ending me at a high rate of speed," Steindorff said in a statement days after the crash. "I was only struck once."

Jenner was driving an SUV when she collided with Howe's Lexus in Malibu, Calif., on Feb. 7. The impact sent Howe into oncoming traffic on the Pacific Coast Highway, where she died after being hit head-on by the Hummer. Jenner braked after colliding with Howe, but rear-ended Steindorff.

The Los Angeles County district attorney's office declined to file vehicular manslaughter charges against Jenner in September. The reality star called Howe's death a "devastating tragedy" in a statement the day after the crash.

Jenner, who announced she is transgender in April, has since starred on E! series I Am Cait, which documents her transition. She also continues to appear on Keeping with the Kardashians with ex-wife Kris Jenner and the Kardashian children.
