NEW YORK, Dec. 23 (UPI) -- Tara Lipinski and boyfriend Todd Kapostasy got engaged Monday in New York.
The 33-year-old Olympic figure skater announced the news by sharing a kiss photo with the Fox Sports producer that put her engagement ring on display.
"My life changed forever last night," she wrote. "I feel so lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend and love of my life. I've had many monumental happy days in my life but this by far is my happiest. I love you @toddkap."
Lipinski followed up with another post explaining how Kapostasy proposed. The couple were on their way to the historic Plaza Hotel when the producer told Lipinski there was a window display he wanted to show her.
"He somehow convinced the hotel to let him take one of their displays over and this painting of him proposing to me in front of my home in California was inside," she shared. "By the time I turned to him he was on one knee... this is one surprise and Christmas that I will never forget."
Lipinski is an Olympic gold medalist who retired from competitive figure skating in 1998. She and fellow figure skater Johnny Weir were promoted to NBC's primary figure skating broadcasting team last year, and continue to commentate at events.
"And so it begins...searching my archives for @taralipinski wedding dress and I do believe @ToddKap should wear anything @TOMFORD," Weir tweeted after word of Lipinkski's engagement broke.
