Remaining Stone Temple Pilots members release video remembering Scott Weiland

WASHINGTON, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Stone Temple Pilots band members reminisce on the talent of their late former colleague Scott Weiland in a video.

In the clip titled Memories of Candles and Incense, band mates Dean DeLeo, Robert DeLeo and Eric Kretz listen to "Atlanta" inside a music studio, cutting all composition apart from Weiland's voice and an acoustic guitar.

Introducing the video, Robert DeLeo discusses the reasoning why they chose the track to honor their late friend and longtime colleague, who died Dec. 3 of an accidental cocaine, ethanol and MDA overdose. "We chose this song because we feel it represents one of the times in our career that Scott was truly at his best," he said. "When you hear this track, we hope to share the same feeling and spirit each of us had when recording it."

"Together let's honor Scott...Memories of Candles and Incense. Having the opportunity to listen to these tracks individually reveal the beauty of Scott's lyrical and melodic gift," the band said in a statement obtained by Billboard. "This is one of the many musical moments we share together. It is in this way we would like to remember Scott."

"Atlanta" was recorded for the band's 1999 album No. 4.
