LOS ANGELES, Dec. 22 (UPI) -- Raven-Symone didn't mean to offend NeNe Leakes on The View.

The 30-year-old television personality discussed her approach to hosting the talk show with E! News after Leakes complained about she was treated during her Nov. 17 appearance.

"I'm in a job where it's about opinions, and it's about my opinion on certain things," Raven-Symone explained. "Everyone gets scrutinized for their opinion, even though we live in America and are supposed to have free speech."

"I think the best way that I can handle it is say my piece, stand behind my truth and move on myself," she said. "I feel sad for [NeNe] ... I don't understand what happened, but that's her right if she felt that way. Just like our opinion, that's her opinion. Sorry, girl. My bad."

Leakes claimed The View co-hosts were "not kind" on the Dec. 6 episode of Watch What Happens Live. Whoopi Goldberg invited the star to make another appearance after her complaints, saying, "Come back another day and try again."

Raven-Symone joined The View as a permanent co-host in June, and has her fifth studio album in the works. Leakes will make occasional appearances on The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 8, which airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET on Bravo.
