LOS ANGELES, Dec. 16 (UPI) -- Kurt Russell shared some of his opinions on the controversial subject of gun control and terrorism in a recent interview.

Speaking with Hollywood Elsewhere, Russell asserted those who believe tighter gun control would thwart terrorists are out of their minds. "I think anybody [who says that] is," he said.

The Hateful Eight actor was questioned about the connections between director Quentin Tarantino's cinematic universe and reality, especially post-San Bernardino attacks and Paris attacks. Russell maintained his opinion that they cannot be connected because, "Movies are movies. They're like a painting, like a song, like a book...I don't think it has anything to do with anything outside the film."

In contrast with the interviewer's pro-gun control opinion, Russell finally cut the heated conversation off, saying, "You and I just disagree. I understand that you think you can control the behavior of people that are dead set on taking your way of life away from you. You think you can control that? And there's only one thing you can do with that. And that's [to say] 'No, dude, that's not gonna happen.'"

Apart from Russell's political views on gun control, the 64-year-old actor is reportedly being considered for a spot as Chris Pratt's character's father in the upcoming Guardian's of the Galaxy sequel.

The Wrap reports Marvel has not finalized a deal with Russell, who has yet to read the script, but negotiations may start soon.
