LOS ANGELES, Dec. 14 (UPI) -- Melanie Griffith responded to critics by sharing an "unfiltered" selfie Friday. The 58-year-old actress posted the photo on Instagram after social media users criticized her looks in a snapshot she shared Tuesday.
"Here ya go. Unfiltered. I'm 58. And I'm in Hawaii Five O playing Scott Caan's Mom. Go ahead... Say some more mean things. Merry Christmas," she captioned the selfie.
Griffith had posted a photo from the beach, writing, "Hawaii with my feet up." Several people made negative remarks about her legs, with one commenter saying they "look like men's legs."
"Most people are telling me I look horrible," the star previously told Us Weekly magazine. "The tweets I get are really nasty."
"In a lot of ways, [Hollywood is] a very superficial place," she later explained to Broadway World. "It is all about youth and beauty, for women anyway. You just have to keep biting and pushing your way through, doing theater."
Griffith is mother to actress Dakota Johnson with first husband Don Johnson, Alexander Bauer with second husband Steven Bauer and Stella Banderas with third husband Antonio Banderas. She and Banderas finalized their divorce last week after 19 years of marriage.
