LOS ANGELES, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- Rita Wilson is reportedly cancer free, just eight months after announcing her breast cancer diagnosis.

The 59-year-old actress revealed the happy news at The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Breakfast on Wednesday, telling People, "I am cancer free. I'm 100 percent healthy!"

"I'll start [a tour with my band] in New York at the Cafe Carlyle for two weeks on Feb. 23," she said of her future plans. "I feel really blessed and very lucky. Part of the reason for going on tour is that I want to show people that you can have cancer, and you can still be out there doing what you love to do."

Wilson announced her breast cancer diagnosis in April after undergoing a double mastectomy. The actress told The Huffington Post in October she got through the experience by practicing "acceptance" and taking "each day a step at a time."

"I spoke to many survivors and women who had bilateral mastectomies," she said. "We shared information. My husband, kids and friends kept me laughing and strong. I have been meditating twice a day. I thank God every day for being on this earth and for all the many blessings in my life."

Wilson will resume her tour in March after her Carlyle shows, and travel and perform with her band into May. The actress is known for playing Viola Walsh on The Good Wife and Evie Michaels on Girls, and shares sons Chet and Truman with husband Tom Hanks.
