LOS ANGELES, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- John Stamos has been sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to enter a three-month alcohol-abuse program for first-time offenders after driving while intoxicated in Beverly Hills last June.

The Los Angeles Times reported the 52-year-old actor was sentenced Tuesday after pleading no contest to the misdemeanor charge.

To avoid jail time, Stamos is also required to sit for two hours of drug and alcohol addiction counseling from a private physician and must attend 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Best known for his work on the popular TV shows General Hospital, Full House and Grandfathered, Stamos spent a month during the summer in rehab to address his substance-abuse issues. He will soon be seen in the sitcom Fuller House.
