David Canary of 'All My Children' fame dead at 77

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Soap opera legend David Canary, known for playing twin brothers Stuart and Adam Chandler for decades on All My Children, has died of natural causes, his family said. He was 77.

The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday confirmed the five-time, Daytime Emmy-winner died Nov. 16 at an assisted living facility in Wilton, Conn.

The Indiana native and Bonanza veteran started working on AMC in 1984 and remained there until he retired from acting in 2010. He reprised his dual roles of the Chandler brothers just before the TV show ended in 2011 and returned when the show was briefly revived in 2013 as a web series.

His other screen credits include the films Hombre, The St. Valentine's Day Massacre and Sharks' Treasure, as well as TV's Another World, Peyton Place and Gunsmoke.

He is survived by Maureen, his wife of more than 33 years; and his children Christopher and Kathryn.
