SYDNEY, Nov. 24 (UPI) -- Angelina Jolie talked about her experience entering into early menopause and how she's been able to embrace it.

In an interview with Australia's The Daily Telegraph, Jolie stated she has no regrets following her surgery back in March to remove her ovaries and fallopian tubes.

"I actually love being in menopause," the actress said. "I haven't had a terrible reaction to it, so I'm very fortunate. I feel older, and I feel settled being older."

"I feel happy that I've grown up. I don't want to be young again," she continued.

The 40-year-old originally had the surgery done as a preemptive measure after a blood test showed what could be signs of early cancer in her ovaries. "I went through what I imagine thousands of other woman have felt," she wrote at the time. "I told myself to stay calm, to be strong, and that I had no reason to think I wouldn't live to see my children grow up and to meet my grandchildren."

In 2013, Jolie also made headlines after she had a double mastectomy and stated in an op-ed that "I do not feel any less of a woman. I feel empowered that I made a strong choice that in no way diminishes my femininity."
